KEY POINTS:

A freshened up Kristov looked ready for a bold run at Awapuni on the weekend when he galloped at Matamata yesterday.

Working 20 metres out on a dead course proper, Kristov (O. Bosson) had pace on throughout 1000m in 1:03.4, finishing off with a final 600m in an
impressive 36.8. He has bounced back well from his unplaced run in the Kelt Capital Stakes and will step out in the open 1600m at this weekend's Feilding meeting at Awapuni.

Another headed in the same direction, Irlanda (Dowling), was partnered by Waitui Music (Gartner) in a sound workout over 1000m in 1:04.7, the last 600m in 37.5. Irlanda won impressively on debut and runs in the three-year-old sprint at Awapuni.

Fiscal Madness (O. Bosson), who steps up to a middle-distance at Ellerslie next Tuesday, turned in good work over 1200m in 1:15.6 and 600m in 37.3. He has trained on well since his last start Te Rapa win.

Te Aroha visitor Avaroadi (C. Lammas) looked bright when sent over 1200m in 1:17, the final 600m in 37.7. He is also scheduled to run at Ellerslie, as is Mohican Brave (Coleman), who was never at top over 1200m in 1:25.2 and 39.5.

Imananabaa (C. Lammas) was keen in her work over 1000m in 1:03.6, the last 600m in 38.2. She has come through her winning Te Rapa run in good order and is well on target for the One Thousand Guineas. Stablemate and likely rival Velvet And Satin (C. Lammas) strode over 1200m in 1:20.2 and 600m in 39.5.

On the sand, which was good, Mellicious (M. Carston) and Jayasuriya (Smellie) caught they eye when they cut out 1000m in a smart 1:01.5, the final 600m in 36. Cruz Control (Ritchie), another from the Sargent stable, also looked on form when sent 1200m in 1:16.8, the last 600m in 36.8.

Tosto (O. Bosson) looked an improver from her first-up run when she worked over 1200m in 1:21.6, finishing off with 600m in 36.4. Stolen Symphony (Dowling) and Mr Incredible (Gartner) were matched over 1200m in 1:18.5, the 600 in 38.4.

At the same distance Killur (Saad) clocked 1:24.2 and 38.6, Inshelucky (C. Lammas) 1:21.8 and 41.3, Destinate (Wenn) 1:23.7 and 38.2, Do Me A Favour (Coleman) 1:24 and 40.5, and Nordic Dancer (Russell) 1:23.2 and 41.5.

On the all weather track Waitui Magic (Saad) took 1:03 for his 1000m and 37.2 for the last 600m. Over the same distance Triple Bank (Russell) cut out 1000m in 1:05.2, the final 600m in 37.6. Triple Bank has trained on well since his impressive debut win and heads to Awapuni on the weekend.

* Last-start winner Sir Edward and stablemate Pay the Believers ran the quickest gallop at Cambridge yesterday. The No.2 grass provided dead footing with the markers out 10 metres.

Sir Edward (Ivil) and Pay the Believers (Holmes) completed 1000m in 1:1.1, dashing the final 600m in 36.8. Figure of Speech (Walsh) was travelling comfortably throughout his work, finishing off with 600m in 39.7. Andari Dancer (Ropiha) and Belfast Babe (Cameron) matched strides from the 1200m, sprinting the final 600m in 38.5.

West is Best (McVean) ran 1000m in 1:11.1, the last 600m in 40. Love Me Do (Weller) and Wishing (Walsh) were together at the completion of 1200m in 1:18, the 600m in 38.3.
