Don't be surprised to see a betting plunge on Place Of Glory at Alexandra Park tonight.
The juvenile pacer may not have the reputation of some of the more favoured runners in tonight's $30,000 Cardigan Bay Stakes but that could change by the end of the 1700m event.
The Canterbury trainer pacer caused a stir with his flashing late run for third on debut last week, making a huge impression of many of the bigger punters who frequent Alexandra Park.
While he faces a second line draw in tonight's first major juvenile race of the season so too does favourite Advance Attack and his stablemate Mighty Cullen.
So the race is sure to have some mid-race moves and the way Place Of Glory found the line last week he looks more likely than most in tonight's race to enjoy a hot pace.
While trainer Mark Purdon has expressed confidence over the chances of Advance Attack repeating his debut win there was also plenty to admire about the recent performances of Badlands Bute and Breckonshire, both of who have the luxury of front line draws.
Breckonshire won the Early Bird Futurity at his last start and while this race has far more depth he looks well capable of handling the step up in grade.
Badlands Bute is the best drawn of the favourites at barrier two and may be able to lead, in which case he will be very hard to beat in the hands of champion driver Tony Herlihy.
