PM gives $1m to sports coach fund

Prime Minister Helen Clark today announced a $1 million scholarship fund for sports coaches.

Ten scholarships of $50,000 each will go to elite coaches and those at national level.

Fifty of $10,000 each are designed to broaden the coaching base in New Zealand.

The scholarships will be available from next year and an elite coach manager, to be appointed later this month, will over see the scholarship programme.
