Paralympics: Medallist suspended after positive drug test

Two-times gold medallist Thomas Oelsner, of Germany, was suspended yesterday from the Paralympics after submitting a positive doping test.

The International Paralympic Committee's announcement came shortly before Oelsner was to compete in the 10km cross-country ski race in Salt Lake City.

The IPC did not say what forbidden substance Oelsner had taken.

Oelsner has won gold medals in the 7.5km biathlon and in cross-country skiing.
