Chris McBreen scored a 143 break on his way to winning the national snooker championships at the Stratford Club in Taranaki.
The break, four short of the maximum 147, helped McBreen to an eight-frames-to six victory over Wellington's Henry Killian.
It came only a day after he scored a break of 145 on his way to a 6-1 win over defending champion Daniel Haenga, of Wellington, in the semifinals.
McBreen, who has recently returned from playing professionally in Britain, led 5-1 at the lunch break in the best-of-15 frames final.
He made several good breaks, with scores of 96 and 89, as well as a number in the 60s and 70s, to go with his 143.
