Netball: Ticket sales surge for series decider

A record New Zealand crowd of 7000 is expected for the series decider between the Silver Ferns and Australia in Christchurch tomorrow night.

That would overtake the 6500 who attended the 1999 world championship final between the same teams.

The Silver Ferns beat Australia 58-47 in the second test on Wednesday night after losing the first by four goals.

Interest in ticket sales increased after the emphatic win, which put the Silver Ferns in range of their first transtasman series victory in 12 years.

Forty-eight percent of the population watching television on Wednesday night in the 25-54 age group tuned in for live coverage of the Invercargill match.

Yesterday in Christchurch, each team had sessions in the pool and the afternoon was free.
