Hamilton driver Chris van der Drift has taken the overall lead of the Eurocup Formula Renault two-litre single-seater championship with two podium results at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
Van der Drift, 20, took two third places in the two races and they were enough to give him the championshiplead in a series designed to be a stepping stone into Formula One.
Van der Drift, who drives for Dutch team JD Motorsport, leads the championship with 67 points from Dani Clos on 65, Filipe Alburquerque - who won both races - on 58 and Laurent Groppi on 56.
