A teenage girl hit in the head by a puck at an NHL ice hockey game in Columbus, Ohio, has died. Brittanie Cecil was hurt at the match between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames.
It is thought to be the first death of a fan hit by a puck at an NHL game and one of the few spectator fatalities at an American sports event, other than car racing, directly related to action on the field.
