The New Zealand boys team of Daniel Hillier, Henry Spring, Inia Logan and Harry Hillier was triumphant in the Claire Higson trophy in Tasmania today.
First played for in 1982 the trophy was re-launched this year to be played as a teams stroke play event during the first two rounds
of the Australian Boys Amateur Championship.
In addition to the Claire Higson Trophy the girls equivalent the Junior Trans-Tasman trophy was also reinstated under the same format, with the New Zealand junior girls team of Momoka Kobori, Amelia Garvey, Alanna Campbell and Ela Grimwood being defeated by the Aussies.
The New Zealand boys team was spearheaded by Henry Spring and Daniel Hillier. Spring who is lying in a tie for first with two rounds to go shot 68 and 72 while Hillier was a shot back with a 70 and 71.
With three of the best four scores counting Inia Logan had two counting scores with rounds of 74 and 75, with the team not requiring Harry Hillier's rounds of 77 and 76. The New Zealand teams final total was 430 a comfortable 11 shots better than the young Aussies.
