Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has completed an impressive week on the PGA Tour with a third placing at the John Deere Classic in Illinois, missing a playoff after a bogey on the 18th hole.
Lee, who won his maiden PGA tour event last week at The Greenbrier Classic, shared thelead at 20-under with one hole to play but found the rough with his drive on the 18th and was left with a 14-footer for par which he missed.
The 24-year-old finished with a four-under 67 including six birdies and two bogeys to take home $US272,600 (NZ$406,117) for the tournament.
His earnings for the last eight days is more than $NZ2.2m after winning NZ$1.79m for his victory last Monday.
The third place also saw Lee move from 15th to 12th on the lucrative FedEx Championship standings. The winner of the FedEx Championship earns $10m at the end of the year.
Lee's playing partner and US Open and Masters champion Jordan Spieth beat fellow American Tom Gillis in a playoff.
Lee started the final round in second place but slipped down the leaderboard early on after a penalty stroke on the fourth hole for picking up and cleaning his ball. The action was allowed in the third round but the rules changed for today's final round.
He then recorded four birdies on the back nine to move into the lead before the bogey on 18 saw Lee move back to a share of third with Zach Johnson.
