The Portuguese Open golf tournament, due to start on October 10, was cancelled yesterday by the organisers following the terrorist attacks in the United States.
The Portuguese Open joins the Ryder Cup, the World Golf Championship (an elite tournament for the world's top players) and the Tampa Bay Classic as golf events cancelled after the September 11 outrages.
