LISBON, Portugal (AP) FC Porto dealt Sporting Lisbon its first loss of the season on Sunday, a 3-1 win at home that lifted the Portuguese leaders five points clear.
In a meeting of the league's top two teams, three-time defending champion Porto emerged victorious thanks to goals by JosueSoares, Danilo and Lucho Gonzalez.
Porto extended its unbeaten streak in league play to 51 straight matches dating back to January 2012.
Benfica's 2-0 victory over Nacional pulled it level on points with Sporting in joint second place.
Soares opened with a penalty kick in the 11th minute after Sporting's Mauricio had fouled Alex Sandro in the area.
William Carvalho's goal equalized for Sporting in the 60th, but two minutes later Danilo restored the hosts' lead before Gonzalez sealed the win in the 74th.
