Didier Drogba scored one and made another for Frank Lampard before Michael Essien thundered home Chelsea's third.

Chelsea gets the chance to clinch their second successive title when Manchester United comes to Stamford Bridge on the morning of April 30.

In other matches, Portsmouth lost 2-1 to Charlton, Middlesbrough has defeated West Ham 2-nil and Newcastle came from behind to beat Sunderland 4-1.
