From a ridiculously tall former athlete, to a current pro who can chug five beers at once, Daily Shorts takes a look at the lighter side of sport.

The size disparity between Yao Ming and anyone not named Shaquille O'Neal, will always be funny.

Yao took in the Shanghai Rolex Masters tournament this week where Federer no doubt impresed him, saving five match points and rallying from three games down in the final set to somehow beat his oppoonent. No way he could've looked Yao in the face had he lost.

Novak Djokovic took the meeting with the former NBA star as a branding opportunity for Uniqlo, his preferred shirt. We would have liked to see Ming try on the shirt, but alas, it wasn't to be.

Either way, pictures with Yao and pretty much anybody are still the best mid-week fodder out there.

Locker room celebrations aren't known for restraint. And when the San Francisco Giants partied last week after winning the National League Division Series over the Washington Nationals, the bash was no exception.

Watch pitcher Madison Bumgarner chug five beers at once. His brew-guzzling stunt was not a one-off, incidentally: he previously downed four beers at the same time after throwing a shutout in a Wild Card victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Instagrams receipt For $1.4 million gambling win

Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. often makes news gambling -- real or imagined.

He was rumored to have wagered $10.4 million on the Denver Broncos in the last Super Bowl -- a losing proposition -- and was also said to have successfully bet around $6 million on an NBA playoff game in 2013.

But sometimes he provides proof. An apparent receipt posted to his Instagram (see below) Monday shows he bet $720,000 Sept. 21 on the Colts over the Jaguars for a $1.4 million payout. The Colts routed the Jacksonville Jaguars that day, 44-17, which easily covered the point spread and made a winner of Mayweather.
