World 11 captain Shane Warne won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second one-day cricket match against New Zealand at Westpac Stadium here today.
New Zealand reached 50 in the ninth over for the loss of Stephen Fleming, who made 14 before being caught and bowled by Chaminda Vaas.
New Zealand omitted allrounder Scott Styris, while the World 11 omitted Craig Spearman, Ian Harvey and Heath Streak.
It meant Australian pair Matthew Elliott and Andy Bichel, and England batsman Nick Knight, would play their first matches of the series for the World 11.
The weather was overcast and clearing, with the start on time at 2pm.
New Zealand won the first match by nine wickets in Christchurch on Saturday. Stephen Fleming scored 106 off 56 balls in that game, including nine sixes.
