Reluctant traveller Jesse Ryder is back in the Otago side for their T20 game against Canterbury tomorrow.
The gifted lefthander was chosen for the New Zealand A tour to the United Arab Emirates but withdrew on Monday. That squad left for Dubai yesterday.
Ryder missed Otago's last Georgie Pie Super Smash game in Christchurch on Sunday after missing the Otago team's flight north on Saturday. He then turned down a plea from his team mates to make a later flight to Christchurch, citing personal reasons for missing the match, which is understood to be a relationship issue.
Ironically that game was Otago's first win of the competition.
Ryder's decision almost certainly rubbed him out of World Cup contention for the tournament in New Zealand and Australia in February-March. The last of his 48 ODIs was against India at the start of the year before he was booted out of the test squad for late night misbehaviour.
