Shane Cameron has called on David Tua to step into the ring for a mouth-watering showdown to find the top Kiwi heavyweight following his latest win on Friday night.
Cameron stopped South African Osborne Machimana in their WBA Pan African heavyweight title fight in Christchurch to record his
17th-straight win as a professional.
His team called on Tua to start negotiating for a contest between the two New Zealanders in Auckland early next year.
Machimana, the South African heavyweight champion, took some heavy punishment from the fighter known as the Mountain Warrior before the fight was stopped in the middle of the ninth round of their 12-round contest.
Cameron, who showed he was developing powerful punches with both hands, decked the bigger South African in the eighth round before winning on a technical knockout.
Machimana, 28, now has a record in the ring of 18 fights for 12 wins, five losses and a draw.
Tua's last fight was in July when he knocked out 40-year-old Edward Gutierrez in the fourth round of a scheduled 10-rounder.
He holds a record of 45 wins from his 49 fights, along with three losses and a draw.
