New Zealand boardsailor Jon Paul Tobin yesterday opened a three-point gap over the rest of the fleet with two races to go in the Mistral class Oceanic championship in Melbourne.
Tobin grabbed a first placing - his fifth of the competition - and a second to increase the gap between him
and second-placed Nick Dempsey, of Britain.
Another Briton, Dom Tidey, lies third on the table, ahead of a quartet of New Zealanders in Tom Ashley, Matthew McCormick, Scott Radley and James Wells.
In the women's event, two second placings helped Briton Natasha Sturges to regain the lead over Australian Jessica Crisp, although the margin between them was just a point. New Zealand boardsailing coach Julie Worth had a win and a fourth to stay third overall, seven points behind Crisp.
