Porzingis' lawyer, Roland G. Riopelle, released a statement on Monday where he said his client went to federal police in December and informed the NBA about the accusations after first receiving the woman's "extortionate demands".
According to the TMZ report, the woman claims that Porzingis arrived at her apartment at 2am on February 7, 2018 before inviting her up to his own apartment where he is accused of sexually assaulting and punching her, saying he "owned" her.
The New York Post reported that the woman had discussed a $US68,000 "hush money" payment with Porzingis, who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks, to pay for her brother's college fees.
