Basketball: Breakers and Wildcats face ANBL charges

An on-court clash that led to a carpark punch-up in Christchurch has resulted in the Australian National Basketball League (ANBL) commissioner laying four charges against the New Zealand Breakers and Perth Wildcats.

The commissioner today laid charges of bringing the game into disrepute against both teams, one charge against Perth's Rashad Tucker for punching and one charge of misconduct against the Breakers' Dillon Boucher.

The charges were laid following a complaint from the Breakers that Boucher was punched by Perth import Tucker in a carpark after their game in Christchurch on Wednesday night.

The pair had clashed during the game, with Boucher ejected for an unsportsmanlike foul on Tucker.

According to Breakers general manager Peter Chapman, Boucher was waiting near the team bus after the game when the Perth players were leaving and things "got a bit heated".

The two teams meet again tonight in Auckland.
