"We moved into this house about a year and a half ago," says Shaun of the light and airy house he shares with partner Kayla, and English Bulldog Ella, in Auckland's beachy eastern suburbs.
"We're about to start some minor renovations, but in the meantime we've been lucky enough to work with Samsung to update the living areas with some new smart tech."
As a Samsung ambassador, Shaun gets access to the latest smart appliances and devices – something he says adds modernity and convenience to his living spaces.
"I wouldn't say I am a techy person, but I definitely like the thought of being one and having all the new gear! We recently got the Family Hub fridge installed in our kitchen, and upgraded to a new QLED Smart TV in the entertainment room - I love how modern these make the place feel," he says.
Home life plays an important part of how Shaun recharges and stays sharp on the field. A typical training day starts early – at 7am Shaun is down at the club for a few hours of training, followed with physio, video and weights.
"Once I get home at around 4pm it's all about relaxing. The QLED TV is most my used smart device in the house - assisting me with that down time after training days. The 4K resolution when watching Netflix isn't the worst! It also connects with my other appliances – for example, when I leave the fridge open, I get a notification on the telly."
As far as benefits go, Shaun says having smart appliances in the home has definitely helped stay on top of household chores.
"The Powerbot robot vacuum is the game changer. Ella (my dog) is always shedding layers of hair off, which shows up all over our wooden floors. Having something that you can automatically set off your phone to pick it all up keeps the space fresh."
"The shopping list on the Family Hub fridge is also handy. If there's any generic groceries we things we need we just tap it onto the list on the screen. That then gets sent to our phones, so we can easily check what we need, even if we're already at the shops."
So what's next for Shaun? "Professionally it is to stay healthy, and keep improving. For my home it's to turn it into our dream space. We already have the smart appliances so shouldn't be too hard!"
