Question If another buyer has already commissioned a building inspection, can I just ask the inspector for a copy of his report? What should I expect to pay?
Gary Koornneef, house inspector, says: You can ask for a copy, depending on how long ago the inspection was done. If it
was within the last 2 weeks the inspector would charge you 80% of the original cost. The inspector's liability would go with copy. But if the inspector needed to revisit the property, then the cost would be normal price.
The NZ House Inspection Company on 0800 751 751. Question We need a few trees for boundary screening before we put our property on the market. What do you suggest?
Regina Wypych, landscape designer, says:
May/June is the best time for planting as tree roots have plenty of time to establish before summer. Choose trees 2m-plus in height for instant impact; expect to pay around $110 per tree. Evergreens for year-round screening include Metrosideros excelsa Vibrance, the lush Magnolia grandiflora Little Gem, Leptospermum macrocarpum Copper Sheen, and olives. A favourite deciduous is the Tui-attracting Taiwanese Cherry, Prunus campanulata Felix Jury. The Specimen Tree Company, 0800 800 TREES, can offer advice.
