Situation:

A ridge of high pressure moves to the east of New Zealand today, while a front over the Tasman Sea moves east across the South Island. The front moves over the North Island tomorrow, followed by another front and cold southwesterlies behind. On Saturday a low deepens east of the North Island, directing a southerly flow across New Zealand, strong to gale about the south and east of the North Island. Southeast gales also develop over the Chatham Islands. On Sunday and Monday, a southerly flow continues to affect New Zealand, while a ridge builds over the South Island.
