A woman paid Dr Warren Chan's clinic $7,000 to shrink her breasts, but despite the surgery, is still wearing the same size bra.
She is also upset about the "unsightly" scars following the June 2000 operation by Dr Chan and says he misled her beforehand by asserting there wasno risk to her ability to breastfeed.
"From what Dr Chan told me I shouldn't be able to see any scars now apart from maybe the one going from my nipple to underneath," she told the Medical Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal today.
After the operation she was still wearing the same large bra size as before, E cup, despite Dr Chan's claim to have removed 1kg of breast tissue.
She is one of eight former patients of Dr Chan whose complaints have led to nine charges against him at the tribunal. Their names are suppressed.
Six of the charges are at the most serious clinical level, disgraceful conduct.
The breast-reduction patient said she still had white scars around her nipples -- which were uneven -- and lumpy scars beneath.
The scars going down from her nipples had faded to light purple and were "wonky" and puckered.
"If Dr Chan had answered my questions more honestly, I may not actually have gone through with it."
A plastic surgeon she saw after Dr Chan's operation, Dr John de Geus, said in a letter last year that the woman still filled E cups almost to capacity, indicating that little breast tissue had been removed.
The scars seemed to be settling down and he expected they would continue to improve.
