A woman was injured this morning when the car she was in swerved to miss a dog and ended up in a river bed.
The young woman, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered a broken leg and abdominal pain after she was thrown from the car on aroad near Takapau, south of Waipukurau in the Hawke's Bay.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter, called to the crash, said it appeared the driver had swerved to miss a dog on the road when he lost control ending up in a river bed.
