Police have named the woman whose body was found in a car that plunged into the Waioeka River, near Whakatane, on Queen's Birthday weekend.
She was 49-year-old, Lynette Joy Miles, from Tauranga.
Police were alerted to the crash on Monday morning after the woman's family found her white
car submerged in the river.
The woman had set out to drive in from Tauranga to Gisborne to visit family on Saturday night, but failed to arrive.
