Woman dies in workplace accident at Rolleston poultry farm

A woman has died in a workplace accident involving a forklift at a poultry farm in Rolleston, Canterbury.

Emergency services were notified around 11.30am and police were in attendance.

Two inspectors from WorkSafe arrived at the poultry farm on Robinsons Rd at 1.30pm.

A WorkSafe spokeswoman said the incident involved a forklift.

"WorkSafe been advised of a fatal incident involving a forklift and a pedestrian in Rolleston.

"No other information has been provided. WorkSafe inspectors have been sent to the scene and are making preliminary inquiries."

People at the rural site halfway between Rolleston and Prebbleton are visibly upset and hugging each other.

The accident comes three days after another person died in a Rolleston workplace accident.

A 58-year-old man died on Friday lunchtime in the Izone Business Park.

Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that the man had been trapped under a beam.

The man died at the scene.
