A 25-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy are in stable conditions at Auckland Hospital following a serious crash in northwest Auckland yesterday.
Four people were injured in the two-car crash on State Highway 16, at Kumeu that happened about 2.50pm.
Two of the patients were initially assessed as being in critical conditions at the scene, and were trapped inside separate vehicles for nearly an hour as fire crews tried to free them.
Two Auckland Westpac Rescue helicopters were sent to the scene to transport the patients to Auckland Hospital.
A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said two people in serious conditions and another with moderate injuries were taken to the hospital.
This morning, an Auckland District Health Board spokesman said the patients - a 25-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy - were in stable conditions.
The third patient was treated and discharged yesterday, he said.
