Tuesday’s weather could make firefighting efforts more difficult.
“The wind has picked up significantly and some rain is forecast which could make the ground muddy and make access more difficult for ground crews.
“I would like to acknowledge all our firefighters, who are working tirelessly in steep and arduous conditions.
“I would also like to thank forestry owners, who are supporting us by operating heavy machinery to help cut containment lines.”

The ban includes open-air fires and fireworks, including paper lanterns, until December 19.
Fire and Emergency said no fires are allowed in the open and all fire permits are suspended.
