West Coast death: Body found after tractor overturns in Otututu/Rough River in Ikamatua

A body has been recovered from a West Coast river after a tractor was found in the water this morning.

Police said the body was found downstream from the Otututu/Rough River, Ikamatua, after the tractor was located upturned in the river about 10.45am.

The body is believed to be the sole occupant of the tractor.

“Police extend their sincere condolences to the deceased’s family at this very difficult time,” a police spokesperson said.

“Police ask that members of the public avoid the area while emergency services are at the scene.”

The death will be referred to the coroner.
