Person dies after being pulled from water in Porirua’s Titahi Bay

A person has died after being pulled unresponsive from the water at Titahi Bay in Porirua on Sunday.

Police were called to Bay Dr about 2.15pm but were unable to save the diver, who died shortly after.

Local iwi Ngāti Toa have placed a rāhui on the area from Pipinui Point to Kōmanga Rau Tawhiti, or Green Point, extending about one nautical mile out to sea.

The rāhui is in place until Friday at 6pm.

The death will be referred to the coroner.
