Police investigate ‘sudden death’ in Blenheim as Wairau Bar Rd closed

Police are investigating a sudden death in Blenheim, with a stretch of road on the edge of the town closed overnight.

Marlborough area commander Inspector Simon Feltham said an investigation is underway at Wairau Bar Rd, Blenheim, after a “sudden death”.

Feltham said police were called just before 1.30pm, with Wairau Bar Rd closed between Ferry Rd and Dicks Rd.

“The road remains closed, with a scene guard to remain in place overnight,” Feltham said.

“A scene examination is due to be carried out tomorrow morning. We continue to advise people to avoid the area.”

Police said earlier there is not believed to be any risk to public safety.
