The Wairarapa Tennis Association's regional one interclub competition for the 2011-12 season is down to just three teams.
Opaki had earlier indicated they would be entering two teams but they have since reduced that number to one.
Masterton and Gladstone will also be starters, but not fronting up will beeither of last season's finalists, Pirinoa and Martinborough, along with Carterton who were regulars in the premier grade before withdrawing last year.
WTA executive officer Cilla Paulik said regional one play would still commence as planned after Labour Weekend but what the format would be was very much a work in progress.
"Right now we are looking at the options but we'd like to come up with something which has all the players competing at the one venue each weekend," she said.
Meanwhile Marcus Daniell has made a return to top form at a professional tournament in Mexico. He won easily in his first four matches on to the way to the final, including a 6-0, 6-3 thrashing of a player who had earlier beaten the top seed. The decider went to three sets with Daniell, who has been battling injury and food poisoning, losing 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.
