Two multiple-vehicle collisions in upper North Island

Emergency services are currently attending two multiple-vehicle crashes in the upper North Island.

The first is a four-car crash on SH1 near Huntly. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) shift supervisor Daniel Nicholson said the fire service was called to the scene at 3.10pm.

The crash happened in the northbound lane, just past Placemakers.

The road is blocked.

Meanwhile, a collision involving multiple cars is also partially blocking SH16 in Kumeu, in northwest Auckland.

A FENZ spokesman said there had been a collision involving three cars.

One person was trapped and was freed by FENZ, he said.

A police spokeswoman said it was believed the crash in Kumeu might involve four vehicles.

It happened at about 3.19pm near the intersection of Old Railway Rd and Taupaki Rd, she said.

It is believed at this stage that at least two people had sustained minor injuries, she said.
