Two people escaped serious injury after their car went down a bank on Piha Rd near Piha Beach in northwest Auckland tonight.

The pair managed to get out of the vehicle, which plunged around 10m, said Fire Service spokesman Jaron Philips.

They were "okay", he said, and did not need medical treatment. The accident happened about 11.50pm.
