Greg Boyed is the new host of TVNZ's late news programme, Tonight.
Former presenter Kate Hawkesby, who has been on maternity leave, announced earlier this month she would not be returning and had resigned from TVNZ, ending a 12-year career with the state broadcaster.
TVNZ said Boyed wasan experienced journalist who has worked extensively in radio and television, most recently on top-rating consumer affairs programme Fair Go.
He has worked as a reporter, newsreader and producer for several different TVNZ news and current affairs programmes including ONE News, The Last Word, Flipside and Tonight.
