A section of State Highway 12 near the Northland settlement of Ruawai is closed this morning after truck struck and killed a cow about 9am.
Inspector Willie Taylor, of Auckland, said the sole occupant of the truck was not hurt, but the truck had lost a wheel.
The cow was
blocking the highway, between Galvin and Village roads, and contractors had been called to clear the scene.
He did not know when the section of highway would re-open.
