Traffic starts to build around Auckland as motorists start to make their commute home

Auckland motorists are facing heavy traffic levels in most directions as breakdowns aggregate this evening's commute.

A crash clear of lanes heading northbound at the Northcote Rd off-ramp on the Northern Motorway is forcing heavy patches of traffic between Fanshawe St and the Upper Harbour Highway.

Heading the opposite direction towards the city, traffic is heavy at Greville Rd and again between Tristram Ave and the Harbour Bridge.

On the Southern Motorway, a breakdown has been cleared from the left citybound lane on the Newmarket viaduct which has caused delays.

Traffic is heavy between Princes St and Greenlane heading citybound, meanwhile, northbound traffic is heavy from Newmarket to Greenlane, again between East Tamaki and Takanini.

Northbound traffic on the Southwestern Motorway is heavy at times between Roscommon Rd and Neilson St.

Southbound traffic is heavy from Walmsley Rd to Massey Rd, again approaching the Southern link. The Waterview Tunnel northbound is free-flowing.

On the Northwestern Motorway, traffic is heavy between Great North Rd and Lincoln Rd westbound.

Citybound traffic is heavy between Hobsonville Rd and Royal Rd, there is also a queue for the Northern Link. The Waterview Tunnel southbound is free-flowing.
