The central region's top young tennis talent will be on display at the Masterton Tennis Centre and St Matthew's Collegiate over the weekend.
Sixty-three players from the seven provinces within Tennis Central - Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Hutt Valley, Kapi Mana and Wellington - are set to do battle insingles play over three age groups, 12, 14 and 16.
They will be vying for places in Central teams to confront Canterbury next month and for the national teams events to be played next April.
Wairarapa's Sade Atkinson, who has had several solid performances in recent weeks, is top seed for the girls 16 years section.
Her equally promising sister, Georgia Atkinson, is just 12 years old but with the age cut-off for this tourney being the end of April 2013 to coincide with the national teams competition, she will be playing in the 14 years grade this weekend. On that basis, making the top four will be her prime objective.
Another highly-rated Wairarapa player, Henry Phelps, will be in the 14 years boys division which has drawn the biggest field with 16 entries. Some players are ranked in the top 20 of their age group but Phelps should still give a strong performance.
