Toe replaces thumb for accident victim

Surgeons at Hutt Hospital have replaced a Levin teenager's missing thumb with the big toe from his severed foot after he was run over by a train.

The 17-year-old's right foot was severed just above the ankle, and his thumb and index finger on his right hand severed in the accident on Tuesday night.
