Teen killed in South Canterbury two-car crash

A person killed in a two-car crash in South Canterbury has been named as 19-year-old Tyler Breen.

Breen, from Temuka, died following the crash on the Temuka-Orari Highway on Sunday, about 2.30pm.

Another person was moderately injured and was airlifted to hospital while two other people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The highway was closed while the serious crash unit worked at the scene.

It followed another fatal crash in the area just weeks ago.

Ricky James Foster, 34, of Temuka was killed in a crash near Winchester at 12.05am on February 20.

Breen's death will be referred to the Coroner.
