A cat was shot through the head with a crossbow bolt.
Moomoo, who belongs to a Wainuiomata family, had surgery at the Massey University Veterinary Teaching Hospital on Tuesday afternoon to remove the bolt. The 4-year-old cat was found by his owner Donna Ferrari earlier that day. The bolt had gone in above his left eye and emerged behind the ear.
An 18-year-old is likely to face charges under the Animal Welfare Act over a cat being shot in the head with a cross bow bolt.
Wellington police spokesman Nick Bohm said the teen handed himself in over the incident, which saw Wainuiomata cat Moomoo needing surgery at the Massey UniversityVeterinary Teaching Hospital last week.
"We're still considering charges under the Animal Welfare Act, and we're hoping to lay those charges tomorrow."
The bolt had gone in above the 4-year-old cat's left eye and emerged behind the ear.
Mr Bohm confirmed the 18-year-old had met with Moomoo's owner, Donna Ferrari, this morning.
