Te Awamutu residents urged to conserve water

There has been a major failure in the water main which supplies Te Awamutu in the Waikato.

It has significantly reduced the amount of water going into the town's reservoirs.

Waipa District Council said normal demand can not be sustained, and it is urging people to conserve water immediately and only use what is essential.

Water tankers are on standby.
