The 9-year-old boy injured in a mysterious incident at Taradale Primary School was reportedly trying to escape from a toilet.
The Napier school boy was still in a critical condition in Auckland's Starship Children's Hospital, after being transferred from Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital in an induced coma on Monday.
Police
have revealed little detail about what led to the pupil's injuries.
Stuff reported the boy became stuck in the toilet at the Napier school when the door would not open.
It was believed he had climbed through the window when he was unable to exit via the door.
