A man is in hospital with stab wounds after a street fight broke out in central Auckland this morning.
Police said two groups of males got into a fight about 7.15am near the intersection of Pitt Street and Hopetoun Streets. It is understood the altercation took place outside Beijing Club.
During the fight, a shotgun was presented but not fired and a male was stabbed with a knife, police said.
A 23-year old male was admitted to Auckland Hospital with a number of serious stab wounds to his body.
He is in a stable condition and will be undergoing surgery today.
Two males aged 18 and 22 are assisting police with inquiries and both weapons used in the fight have been recovered.
