Mobile blues
John writes: "My lovely wife Polly is always losing her mobile, and as she doesn't get a lot of calls, is not overly familiar with the ring. The other day she couldn't find it anywhere so picked up the landline in the office and rang her mobile. She was delighted to hear it ringing but couldn't find it anywhere. She raced into the bedroom thinking it was there. It wasn't. Then repeated this exercise in most rooms of the house finally arriving back in the kitchen laughing her head off ... it was in her pocket!"
Beautiful stories ...
1. "My little sister came home from school one day and demanded I take her to the library so she could get books on sign language as there was a new kid at school who was deaf and she wanted to befriend him. Today, I stood beside her at their wedding watching her sign ... 'I DO'."
2. "A beautiful little girl, wearing a beautiful little dress walked up to my wife at church. My wife bent down to talk to her eye to eye. This little girl, 3, placed her chubby little hands on my wife's cheeks and leaned in so that both of their foreheads touched. Then with only a voice a beautiful little girl can muster, she said with all sincerity and love, 'I like your face'. She then let go and walked away."

Transport not the problem
A reader responds to yesterday's Sideswipe item: "I always catch public transport to and from Eden Park. I struggle to understand why Tony got a train to Britomart and then tried to get a free bus to Takapuna. There are free buses provided to serve many areas of Auckland for rugby patrons including Takapuna. It stops on Hurstmere Rd next to The Elephant Wrestler. Don't blame Auckland Transport for this one mate!"
Get correct info, Tony
For future excursions Tony might like to make note that buses to Takapuna leave from Albert St, not Britomart. There are maps at the Britomart Transport Centre pointing customers to the appropriate bus stop.

Softest news there is: The Nottingham Post reports "...A pair of bemused Carlton pensioners returned from holiday to find patches of grass on either side of their street cut at completely different lengths." And it just gets better from there....
