Shell discounts petrol for the day

Shell has begun another of its Saturday petrol sales today, discounting petrol and diesel prices by seven cents until 6:00 pm.

Shell's New Zealand retail manager Steve Foster said the company aimed to build on its customer base by delivering better fuel prices.

"Our price discount has absolutely nothing to do with international oil prices, which continue to remain firm."

Mr Foster said he expected other oil companies to offer similar discounts, and he welcomed the competition.

"We don't believe there is a better deal to be had, but if you can find one you should grab it."

The promotion is the third by Shell since Christmas.
