Napier shearer John Kirkpatrick won the open final at the Lakeland Shears in Cockermouth, England, at the weekend.
Machine shearing team members David Fagan and Cam Ferguson finished second and third respectively just 10 days out from the Golden Shears world championships in Wales.
Canterbury blades shearers Brian Thomson and Allen Gemmell were first and second in their first British outing, just a day after arriving from New Zealand. Fagan is one win from taking his 600th open-class title.
