“It’s a really busy road, so it’s sad to see that this could happen on a Sunday to multiple vehicles.”
“This road is crazy at times but in 10 years I’ve never seen an accident like this,” she said.

A Herald photographer at the scene said Great North Rd remains closed as the Serious Crash Unit completes its investigation.
“A specialist Fire and Emergency lighting unit from Te Atatū Fire Station is providing lighting support for the crash investigators.
“Traffic management is now in place, taking over from Fire and Emergency operational support personnel who had been manning the cordons since the crash occurred.”
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said three crews attended the incident.
“Crews extricated two people who were trapped in a car and then handed them over to St John.”
