On Wednesday, one lucky winner took home the $5 million Powerball jackpot after buying their ticket at Whitcoulls in Glenfield. Their prize is made up of $5m from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.
This made them this year’s 10th Powerball multi-millionaire, only a week after a New Plymouth Lotto player took home $14.3m.
Recent winners
A Lotto player from Port Chalmers won Lotto First Division in the April 18 draw, taking home $1m.
They bought their ticket at Windsor On the Spot Express at Port Chalmers.
A Powerball First Division winner said she was left “numb” after she won a staggering $14.3 million on April 15.
What to do if you win
Ticket holders can see immediately if they have won if they purchased a ticket through MyLotto. Prizes of $1000 or less are automatically credited to the account.
For prizes exceeding $1000, winners must complete an online prize claim form.
Winners with physical tickets must still visit a Lotto retailer to claim their prize.
For the Powerball jackpot to be claimed, a ticket holder must get all six Lotto numbers correct as well as the added Powerball number.
